Q: I never received a set of Recovery Discs with my VAIO.
A: Recovery Discs are onboard and are accessible via Start, All Programs, VAIO Recovery Center. It is strongly recommended that a set of discs be created and kept with the unit.
Q: I never created a set of Recovery Discs and my Hard Drive is inaccessible. Where can I get a set of discs?
A: Recovery Discs for South African models are obtainable from Sony South Africa at a total cost of R250-00 inclusive.
Q: Why should I have to pay for Recovery Discs when other manufacturers provide them free of charge?
A: Sony provides free of charge Recovery Discs onboard the unit as part of the supplied software. It is the customer’s prerogative to create a set to keep with the unit. Should the customer fail to do this, then Sony will charge for the replacement set.
Q: My battery does not last as long as was advertised.
A: Battery performance is advertised as per JEITA (Japan Electronic Information Technology Association) standards. This is a test-bench figure and not commiserate with a normal working environment.
Q: I loaded some software and it doesn’t seem to work properly.
A: Sony ships with Microsoft Windows ® operating systems which are compatible with most major applications. However, Sony cannot assume responsibility for third party applications and/or software.
