2. Please send the warranty card to Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited to ensure validation of your warranty or register online at www.sony.co.za
3. You should retain your proof of purchase in a safe place because it shall be required in the event that you need to have your product repaired in terms of this warranty.
4. You will have to pay a quotation fee, in advance, for repairs to products which are out of warranty or for which a warranty card or proof of purchase are not available.
5. Serial numbers will be checked to ensure that the product was sold by Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited. Only products sold by Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited shall be covered by this warranty. Damage caused by, or evidence of the following will invalidate the warranty: Lightning, extended exposure to moisture and humidity, liquid contamination, fire, acts of God, war, public disturbances, connection to incorrect voltage, normal wear and tear, accident, misuse or abuse (Including “screen burn” as specified in the instruction manual), failure to properly maintain, use of improper cleaning methods, infestation by insects or vermin, incorrect installation, incorrect operation, use for which it is not designed (e.g. commercial or industrial environment), use of faulty or leaking batteries, incomplete or incorrect customer instruction/education, evidence of tampering or repair by a non-approved service centre, altered or removed serial number, prolonged and excessive periods of maximum volume and loudness leading to damage of speakers and/or speaker boxes.
Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited gives the following warranty for products sold by it in the Republic of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland.
1. A Sony Authorised Service Centre will repair, at its cost, defects in the materials or workmanship occurring at the time of manufacture.
2. The repair can only be undertaken by an approved Service Centre authorised by Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited (Authorised Service Centre)
3. This warranty is subject to the proviso that the product has been correctly installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the instructions contained in the instruction manual relating to the product. If the product is sold to you without an instruction manual, please obtain the applicable manual from your dealer or check the unit for a onboard manual (VAIO).
4. The reasonable decisions of Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited as to whether there was a defect in materials, or workmanship, at the time of manufacture and as to the repairs needed to repair the defects, shall be binding on you.
5. Authorised Service Centres will charge an administration fee for quotations to repair products that are no longer under warranty.
6. No assertion, statement, undertaking or representation, expressed or implied, regarding the product or its capabilities may be relied upon by you unless it is made or authorised by Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited in writing.
7. This warranty will automatically terminate at the end of the warranty period for each category of products shown on the face of this card and will terminate immediately if the product is repaired by any party other than an Authorised Service Centre entitled to repair that specific product.
8. If the product presented for repair is found to be in good working order, Sony South Africa (Pty) Limited or its Authorised Service Centre is entitled to charge a reasonable fee for which you, and not Sony, will be liable, based on its hourly labour rate together with travelling expenses in the case of field service.
9. Sony will not be liable for any loss, damage or alterations to (1) third party hardware or software; or (2) programs, data or information stored on any media or any part of the Product, no matter how occurring; or for any loss or damage arising from loss of use, loss of profits or revenue, or for any resulting indirect or consequential loss or damage.
10. The warranty does not cover any third-party software or hardware not contained in the Product as originally configured by the manufacturer.
11. This is your sole warranty in relation to the product sold to you.
12. For product with built-in hard drives: In the event that the product is exchanged or the contents of the hard drive being altered, deleted, modified or reformatted as a result of the maintenance or service, the product will be returned to you configured as originally purchased. You agree that Sony shall not be liable and accepts no liability in respect of lost information.
