Corporate Social Investment at Sony S.A
Corporate Social Investment at Sony S.A
Sony South Africa's Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme has been named the Sony C.U.P - standing for ‘Community Upliftment Program’. Through the 12 main sustainable projects to be conducted this year, we aim to uplift our chosen community through six main areas for involvement namely:
| • |
Arts and Culture |
• |
Health |
| • |
Science and technology |
• |
Education |
| • |
Sports |
• |
The Environment |
The Sony C.U.P has a unique approach to C.S.R in that it’s main mission is to foster and develop a spirit of community involvement in all Sony S.A employees - both permanent employees and contractors. The results will be a remarkable impact to the community and a model CSR program from which other corporates can learn how to improve their own CSR initiatives.
Sony S.A Employee participation requirement is set at a minimum of two projects during the course of the year. This participation has been made a company policy that will contribute towards making C.S.R involvement a culture in Sony S.A - a company that is a world leader in electronic products.
The community we will work with this year are 2 schools in Alexandra - Emfundisweni Primary and Minerva High School. The township of Alexandra was chosen due to its proximity to the Sony S.A head office located in Midrand. Weekly liason with the school and implementation of projects is always easier if one is closer to the community that we work with.
